Ep 44: The Truth About the Fight

As Oro's sword pierces Sai, he turns into ink. The sword turns into a snake and returns to Oro who then says "When speaking to someone above you, etiquette dictates that you show your true face." Sai's head appears from underground.

Meanwhile Naruto is turning back to normal, albeit painfully. His face is all red. After he collapses, pillars retreat back into ground. Sakura runs to him.

Sai comes out from the ground and tells Oro that Danzou has wanted to contact Oro since the failed plan to destroy Konoha.

Sakura helps heal Naruto but his injuries are healing slower than they should. Sakura winces in pain since her arm hasn't fully healed. She asks Yamato about teaching her the technique to control Naruto. He says he can't since he's the only one infused with the First's DNA. But he's only an experimental copy and can't compare to the first. Naruto's crystal necklace only responds to the First's chakra and because of that necklace he's able to control jinchuuriki. That ability was why the first became Hokage and why Yamato was chosen as captain. Sakura says the only things she can do for Naruto are small and insignificant. Yamato says it's not the size, it's the feelings for Naruto that matter. He starts to say he can tell by looking at her that she really...

Naruto wakes and tries to get up. He doesn't remember anything after going toward Oro. He asks Sakura why she's crying. Naruto immediately blames Sai for calling her a freak of nature. Sakura gets insulted and punches him out again. Sakura then asks where is Sai.

Sai finished telling Oro what Danzou wanted to relay. He reaches for something in his back pack. Kabuto suddenly attacks him from behind and pins Sai to he ground. Sai tells Oro to look at the envelope that fell out of his pack. Oro takes a look then orders Kabuto to let him go and take Sai with them. Yamato clone contacts real Yamato then goes after them.

Real Yamato tells Naruto and Sakura that Sai has gone to Oro. The bridge has been destroyed but Naruto still doesn't remember anything. Sakura tells him simply that Oro knocked him out. They see Sai's stuff on the ground. Sakura picks up his picture book. Yamato analyzes that if he had left something important behind means he was very tense. His wood clone saw Sai approach Oro with something and left with him voluntarily. Naruto protests that even though Sai is a jerk he wouldn't do something like that. Sakura says he would and thinks back to Tsunade telling her about Danzou. She asks Yamato about Danzou. Yamato thinks it's possible that Danzou gave Sai a top secret mission different from their own and Danzou may be trying to destroy Konoha as they know it.

End: Ninja Academy Special Lecture - First Hokage's necklace made from a special kind of stone, valuable enough to buy three mountains. His granddaughter Tsunade gave it to her brother and then her lover and now Naruto.

Review: Not much happens here but the exchange between Sai, Kabuto and Oro was fun.

Yamato is a highly skilled tracker.

Thoughts:
Kabuto took down Sai very easily. Did Sai let him do that on purpose or is Kabuto just a lot better than Sai?
The crystal necklace responds only to the First's chakra. Is that because of its shape?
