Ep 200: Active Duty! The Ultimate Backer

Tenten cuts the threads and removes the explosive notes. Naruto wonders how Gennou could do something like that. Shikamaru says once Gennou realizes they removed the incendiary device, he might use something else as a trigger. Shikamaru orders the kids to continue practice but not to hit the center. Shikamaru then reports to Tsunade. Shizune thinks the village should take shelter but Shikamaru thinks Gennou might activate the explosions and maneuver through the chaos of people escaping. Kiba and Sakura with Akamaru's help, track down an explosive note buried in the ground. Tenten and Shino with his bug, recover a note in the wall of a building. Hinata and Naruto have a run in with a villager.

The two elders come in as Shikamaru reports to Tsunade. Tsunade sends them on a mission as well. Shikamaru is still disturbed since there are so many exploding tags that they can't determine how and when Gennou set them up and he probably had help. He has a feeling something big is going to happen.

Homura and Kohaku travel far out to a shack in an area where they had planned to make a shopping district 30 years ago. Kohaku sees an explosive note in the wall and she forces it out with a jutsu. Back in Tsunade's office they examine the explosive note. Shikamaru comments that it's different than the others. The elders explain it's the old version and most of the recovered notes are the old version and were found in areas where there are hardly any people. Tsunade concludes that the trap was set up 30 years ago. Shikamaru realizes something and runs out.

Hinata feels faint after using the Byakugan for so long. Naruto touches her forehead to check her temperature then leaves to give his explosive notes to Tsunade. He stops at Ichiraku and thinks about how he met Gennou. He realizes Gennou was looking at the Hokage monument and runs off to investigate. There he finds an explosive note and Gennou.

Shikamaru goes back to the head carpenter and asks him for records for 30 years ago. He thinks that the missing letter of introduction was also a fake, also from Gennou 30 years ago when he planted the old exploding notes.

Gennou explains to Naruto that long ago the Dragonfly Village existed in the Mountain Country where he was born and raised. The whole village was wiped out. Dragonfly Village and Konoha were at war and fought to a stalemate.

Gennou explains his mission was to infiltrate Konoha and plant explosive notes everywhere. Dragonfly village would attack Konoha at the exact same time the exploding tags went off. There was no ANBU at the time. After 2.5 months, he waited for the signal to attack but the Dragonfly leader was killed and his successor reached cease fire with Konoha. Two weeks after the cease fire, the Dragonfly Village was attacked by another village and destroyed. Naruto asks why he wants to destroy Konoha now. He replies it's a shame to waste it and no one would know about his traps when he died so he's going to use them. Naruto tells him his friends are dismantling his trap but Gennou has another plan.

Lee runs up to Shikamaru amd tells him the kids are tired of practicing. Shikamaru asks Lee to dismiss them before it got dark. Shikamaru realizes that Gennou doesn't care if the exploding tags they found go off or not - it's just another distraction.

Thoughts:
Tsunade quoted something which doesn't make much sense as translated: "When you let a flower blossom, the young people will get bored and start complaining. Young people don't have the patience to let a plan to come to fruition."
Kohaku is not a Hyuuga but can use a jutsu to similar effect.
