Ep 34: The New Team Kakashi is Formed!

Shizune continues to suggest Tsunade change her mind about sending Naruto, but she sticks to reasoning. Shizune points out Kakashi can't go and this is now a different situation since it was due to Kakashi the Akatsuki didn't get Naruto. Tsunade plans to assign two others to fill in for Kakashi and Sasuke.

Shikamaru has a new jutsu - ninpou, kage nui: Ninja art, shadow sewing. His shadow splits up and destroys all the beasts. Naruto clashes kunai against Sai's short sword (tanto).

Shizune returns with the two elderly advisors Koharu and Homura. Shizune has informed them about Naruto and they advise Tsunade not to send Naruto in contact with the Akatsuki. Homura says Naruto must be with skilled shinobi at all times to act as bodyguards. Koharu says to limit his missions. Tsunade refuses and points out that the Akatsuki will come after Naruto even if he's in Konoha like they did with Gaara and the entire village will then be in danger. As long as Naruto is on the move they won't be able to pinpoint his location. Tsunade promises if Konoha and the Fire Country fall into danger because of her, she will put her life on the line to protect it as the Fifth Hokage. The advisors agree with one condition, one of the additions will be of their choosing. Tsunade agrees and they call in Danzou. Tusnade realizes the new recruit must be a member of ANBU's root.

Naruto's kunai clashes against Sai's tanto. Sai insults Naruto with references to his manhood, then escapes before Shika's shadow could bind him. Ino shows up to get Chouji for their mission.

Danzou has already selected someone and he suggests Tsunade choose a skilled ANBU who works directly for her as the interim leader replacing Kakashi. Everyone agrees. But Tsunade leaves angrily. Shizune apologizes but Tsunade is more worried about Danzou. Later in her office an ANBU appears who she asks to be Kakashi's replacement. Tsunade says it's a normal mission, not an ANBU mission so he can remove his mask. His code name will be Yamato. She informs him about the ANBU root member and tells him to keep a close eye on him since he was recommended by Danzou who maybe planning something.

Naruto and Sakura wait for their new team members at the arena. Yamato introduces himself and sees the look on Naruto's face as he glares at Sai and realizes it's going to be a tough mission.

End: Konoha Tourism Association: Chouji, Naruto and Shika go to a barbecue restaurant. Naruto's about to get food but Chouji grabs it all first, claiming a taste test. Naruto calls him fat. Big mistake! Chouji wrecks the restaurant.

Yamato calls Kakashi senpai (senior to Yamato which implies Kakashi is older/was in a higher position when they were in ANBU).
Danzou used to lead a hard-line party who stood in opposition to the Third's policies. He formed his own section of ANBU called root and became its chief. Root has been disbanded and he has fallen into disgrace.

Thoughts: When was Root disbanded and why? Did Tsunade or Sandaime do it? Did Danzou fight Sandaime for the hokage position the first time round or the second? He doesn't look as old as Sandaime.
