Ep 214: Regained the Reality

Naruto and Menma report to Tsunade about his music being a type of ninjutsu. Tsunade notes instruments are related techniques in Rice Country. Menma and Naruto ask for permission to go to Rice Country. Neji and Tenten are aslso assigned to the mission. Tsunade’s concerned that Menma is a spy since Rice Country and Sound Village is where Orochimaru hid and the flute is like the ninjutsu used by Tayuya.

Neji watches Menma's moves then speeds ahead. Menma is still able to keep up. Neji slips and breaks a branch but Menma saves him. As they take a break, Neji and Naruto discuss Menma. Neji purpose fell, but Menma was able to not only match Neji's top speed, he also had the composure to save him. Notes that he is faster than all of them. Tenten observes if they had to fight him it'll be troublesome but Naruto defends him.

Menma plays his flute but Neji orders him to stop. Tenten explains it may be a signal to the enemy, the one who escaped a few days ago. They smell something burning and head toward the village that was burned in the beginning of the episode. Menma has a flashback.

They set off a trap but Menma saves them from arrows. Villagers appear with weapons. Tenten explains they're Konoha shinobi passing by. The team rests by the river and the little girl from before appears with a woman. Menma offers the girl a flower but she hides behind the woman who asks for their help to save the village. The village is on the border of Rice Country. It is in a demilitarized zone, but behind the village mountain there is a small gold mine. No one governs the area so thieves attack. The feudal lord won't help because of the international treaty. Neji says they can't help since they're on a mission right now.

The woman’s brother appears and tells them rumors that the people who attacked the village are fugitive ninja from Sound Country. He shows them a cemetery. A third of the villagers were killed. Half of the remaining villagers moved away.

Fuki’s (the little girl) parents were killed by the thieves and she hasn't been able to talk since. Menma wants to stay to help and says he remembers something so its part of the mission. He and Naruto erect a wall and a bridge over the river which acts as a moat. They almost have an accident but Tenten saves them and joins in. Ran and Fuki bring them food and drink and soon other villagers are helping build the wall.

The ninja from before spies from afar, but Tenten sees the reflection of glass. Naruto and Neji go in pursuit. The enemy attacks with a kunai attached to a red ribbon. A red net traps Naruto. Menma plays his flute and Neji notes he's amplifying the flow of chakra with sound waves. Neji and Naruto catch the enemy.

The brother of Ran tries to shoot him, but the enemy throws his kunai at him. The kunai hits Menma in the back instead. They take off Menma’s shirt to operate and see blue bands on his shoulder. He's one of the people who attacked the village!

Thoughts:
Naruto and Menma only took a few hours to almost complete the wall and bridge. Naruto should have used kage bunshin.
Amplifying the flow of chakra with sound waves is a good idea, but wouldn’t it affect the enemy as well?
