Ep 171: Intrusion! The Prepared Trap!

Anko has fallen unconscious. Shino tells Naruto the boat with the official payment will depart in the morning and they should return to the inn, but Naruto is worried about Isaribi.

Anko dreams of her time in Orochimaru's lab where she washes test tubes and equipment. Orochima tells her the Hokage knows of the research being conducted here.

Naruto wants to pursue them and Shino mentions the island where people disappeared. Anko wakes and tells them that's the uninhabited island where the Kaima is said to live. Anko tells them that the Kaima is merely a human who underwent physical transmutation.

Isaribi swims underwater with the dark glasses guy then emerges from the water and transforms back to normal. She thinks back to being bullied by the kids.

Anko tells the team that the series of disappearances from 10 years ago wasn't the work of a monster, it was Orochimaru kidnapping people for his experiments to develop kinjutsu (forbidden techniques). He had several facilities outside of Konoha including the one on Kikajima. The team rows to the island. Anko's pain from the cursed seal gets stronger.

On the island Orochimaru notes that someone is coming and tells the lab guy who goes check it out.

Shino's bug scouts out the area first before the teams goes into the underground passage. The dark glasses guy and Isaribi tells the lab guy about the coming payment. Lab guy comments that returning Isaribi to Hahajima was a success. Isaribi has been collecting information on the boats from the village market as requested and attacked them so that she can return to normal. The lab guy says she's the prototype to help collect data for the modified type and then tells her to greet their guests. The team enters a room where they see several cylinders of specimens then Shino, Ino and Naruto fall through a trap door. Anko appears behind Isaribi with a kunai to her throat, but she flips Anko over her shoulder and closes the door. The back wall opens and three lion like creatures attack Anko who licks her kunai in excitement.

Ino, Shino and Naruto land on their feet and find themselves against the dark glasses guy. Shino remarks he's seen his face before during the chuunin exams. Ino notices he was Sasuke's opponnet in battle. Naruto says he was with Kabuto. Yoroi says he hasn't seen Kabuto since. Shino reminds them his jutsu sucks up chakra. Shino tells them to go ahead as Yoroi's justu is not suitable against Naruto's style of close combat. Naruto and Ino go on ahead while Shino releases his bugs. Anko has taken care of the lions but her cursed seal still causes her pain. She enteres a dark room and finds the guy in the lab coat, Amachi, a medial ninja. She asks about Orochimaru but he claims he left half a month ago. Naruto and Ino catch up to Anko. Amachi proudly displays Isaribi as his life's work who can breathe underwater, swim quickly, and has great physical stamina, the first step in creating an underwater ninja army to control all the sea routes, and make Orochimaru regret abandoning this research. Naruto is about to attack Amachi but Isaribi steps in front of him.

Meanwhile Shino dodges Yoroi's attacks but then Yoroi uses a whirlwind of some sort and Shino is disoriented then Yoroi grabs him from behind.

Naruto tries to talk some sense into Isaribi but she shows him her face and says Amachi promised to return her to normal. Naruto gives one of his inspirational speeches that cause her to break down and cry. Anko grabs Ino as the wall behind them explodes and a guy with regular glasses appears. Anko is knocked out and Isaribi leaves with Amachi.

Shino was an insect clone. Yoroi notes that since they both use similar chakra techniques the fight isn't going to end quickly. Naruto gets squeezed by Misumi, but Ino uses Shinraiju no jutsu (manipulation technique) to stop him and wraps his arms around posts. The place starts to collaspe. Naruto and Ino grab Anko and follow Shino to the entrance. Yoroi was able to swim to the boat where Amachi and Isaribi wait.

Review: Ooh, minor characters are back with some decent action.

Amachi = lab guy

Yoroi = dark glasses guy who fought Sasuke in the chuunin exam

Misumi = clear glasses guy who fought Kankurou in the chuunin exam
