Ep 170: Crash! The Closed Door

Anko and Shino look for Naruto but he's gone. Ino is passed out on the boat. They decide to head to the nearest island since the fog is too dense and Naruto probably got swept ashore.

Guy in a lab coat kneels before Orochimaru (wrapped in bandages) with Sasuke by his side.

Naruto wakes in the bed of Isaribi who has taken care of him. Shino's bugs still can't find him.

At the White Chrysanthemum Inn, Hitode, man in charge of protecting the official payment, tells them the mission is at an earlier time tomorrow morning. Anko wants time to search for Natuto. Hitode says the country is not a prosperous one and needs the Kaima gone.

Naruto wakes and thanks Isaribi for helping him. He explains his mission to rid the Kaima as he eats. She warns him to leave. Outside her hut he sees graffiti and insults from the village kids who now throw rocks at her and tell her to leave. Naruto protects and defends her. The kids tell him she was spirited away and became a monster. Isaribi tells Naruto it's none of his business and people will never accept someone different from them. Then a samurai on a horse rides by with a package.

The team searches for Naruto by the docks. Ino speaks to an old woman who says maybe he was sprited away. The woman's daughter explains about an old folktale about Kakaijima, the island where the monster lives. In the past Kakaijima was abundant with fish but there were many reefs and fishing conditions were dangerous. Ten years ago all the fish disappeared from the sea. She and her husband had no choice but to face the dangers and approach the island. She caught a lot of fish but her husband vanished and only the empty boat remained. After that everyone who approached the island vanished one by one. Those who searched for the missing never returned. The island is now called Kamikakushi Island (spirited away) and no one goes near it. Ino recalls the girl who was said to be spirited away and returned, and asks to find her.

Meanwhile back in Konoha, Tsunade is thinking about Ocean Country and explains to Shizune that is where Anko was found when she was abandoned by Orochimaru. Flasback to the Anbu finding her by the shore and the medics trying to help her remember and then sealing her cursed seal as Sandaime and Tsuande look on. Anko's memories did not return and parts are still missing.

Meanwhile Naruto has just missed the team who is searching for him where he just came from.

Isaribi watches the pier and notes that the ship carrying the official payment is moving. Anko, Shino and Ino see Isaribi by the cliffs and follow her into a cave. She emerges and changes into a sea monster. Anko's cused seal starts to hurt. Ino and Shino follow the Kaima while Anko has flashback of a girl in a tank. Orochimaru explains it's one of his jutsu invention rooms.

Ino attaches an explosive not to a kunai and blows apart the exit while Shino binds the Kaima with a rope attached to shuriken. Naruto catches up to the team. They show him the caught Kaima and he realizes it's Isaribi. She breaks free and disappears then reappers with the guy in dark glasses who starts a whirlpool and the two sink into the water and disappear again. Anko thinks that girl is the one in the tank. Anko's curse seal causes her to collaspe.

Review: The inclusion of Orochimaru and Sasuke was nice, as well as Anko's past. Isaribi being the sea monster was expected.

Notes:

Isaribi = a fire used to lure fish at night

Hitode = man in charge of protecting the official payment

Thoughts:

Seems unlikely they'll actually encounter Sasuke.

Isaribi must be Anko's age if she's the girl in the tank.
