Ep 139: Fear! Orochimaru's Castle

Naruto rants about defeating Orochimaru then wonders how Jiraiya knew about Sasame's drug. Jiraiya explained Sasame called the bandits traitors. But the bandits told him (flashback) that when Orochimaru came, there were some that wanted to use his power to revive their clan. The ones against it were chased out of the village and branded as traitors who were in the way of the clan's revival. As soon as Sasame called them traitors, Jiriaya knew she was connected to Orochimaru. Sasame takes out a kunai intending to kill herself. Jiraiya knocks the kunai away from her neck. Sasame apologizes. Sakura and Naruto defend her and ask Jiraiya to forgive her. He says shinobi rules are strict, she can't get off scottfree. Naruto and Sakura offer to accept her punishment. Jiraiya tells Sasame the bandits are worried about her. He announces her punishment is to lead them to Orochimaru's hideout and then for her to return to the lodging town to wait for them.

The team arrives at the hideout. Jiraiya suggests sending in something first and summons Gamakichi. Sakura seriously freaks out when she sees the little frog and even more when it greets her. Gamakichi goes in first to scout. The coast is clear and the team follows him. They reach a room with three tunnels. Naruto immediately heads down the middle, but Jiraiya takes out a telescoping pole to determine the direction, by letting it fall to the ground. He tells Naruto and Sakura to stay together. Naruto and Sakura tie on their forehead protectors and go down the middle tunnel. Jiraiya takes the right tunnel and Gamakichi takes the left tunnel. Jiraiya smells the scent of a woman's makeup and hears the music of a zither. A woman says she's there to entertain him.

Meanwhile Naruto triggers a trap and shurikens rain down on them. Then Naruto trips over a rope and the ceiling opens. Gates crash down and Naruto is trapped between two gates. Sakura helps him out but then trips a trap and the floor opens up. Naruto grabs onto her hand and concentrates chakra to his feet to hold on but after saving her he falls into the pit. A heavy gate falls down and cuts Sakura off from Naruto. He tells her to continue without him.

Jiraiya drinks sake and notes that it hasn't been tampered with. Jiriaya asks if she is trying to use music to cast a jutsu on him. She replies that the music is condolences for herself. Then she stops playing and walks over to him. Jiraiya suddenly knocks her away. She had cut his arm with the zither pick (metal ring nail extensions) on her hand. Then her hair extends to bind Jiraiya tightly. Her eyes glow red. She comes close to him and tells him her orders were to guide her guest to hell. The ceiling crashes down on both of them.

Meanwhile Naruto tries to balance himself on the spikes. He uses kage bunshin but his clones are unable to help him then the pit is flooded with water. Gamakichi is washed onto Naruto.

Sakura enters a room and hears Kabuto's voice. She asks about Sasuke but Kabuto says she should be worried about Naruto and Jiraiya. He proceeds to taunt her about holding others back. She jumps toward him. Kabuto hits her with shurikens but it was just a rolled up blanket. (where did that come from?) Then Sakura attacks him from behind. They clash kunais then both jump back. Kabuto mentions Orochimaru which freaks Sakura out (more flashbacks) then she shakes herself awake and attacks saying she is different now. Then Orochimaru appears. Sakura drops her kunai and appears paralyzed with fear.

Review:
Pretty good episode, the traps were interesting and Kabuto’s as obnoxious as ever.

Notes:
The musical instrument the woman plays is a zither.
