Ep 106: Will You Make It, Idate! The Never-Give-Up Last Spurt!!

Summary:

Everyone is waiting for the runners to arrive. The feudal lord is given an envelope with evidence on a case.

Sakura concentrates chakra to her feet and hand to cling to the mountainside and is able to slow down her descent while holding Sasuke in one arm. They luckily fall onto a ledge. Naruto uses his multiple kage bunshin and hundreds of clones appear. Aoi cuts through them and sees the one in the rear starting the rasengan. Aoi cuts at the rasengan before it's done and destroys the clone. Naruto is down but gets back up again. He charges Aoi with the rasengan again but again is thrown back. Naruto then sees the crack in the sword where Sasuke's chidori hit. He uses kage bushin again. His clones attack and throw stones at Aoi. Real Naruto attacks from above and aims for the crack. The sword breaks, Naruto hits Aoi with the rasengan, spinning him away and Aoi falls into the water below. Sakura tells Naruto to continue the race. Idate and Naruto climb onto the remaining rope. Idate lends Naruto his special pocket knife to cut the rope free. They swing to the other side. Naruto concentrates chakra to his feet and sticks to the cliff wall. He catches Idate and runs up the cliff face with him.

Fukusuke nears the finish but Idate catches up and wins. Idate places the tiger ball on the altar in the shrine. He kneels before Jirocho and apologizes. Jirocho's confused and sends him out to greet the crowd. Fukusuke gets beaten up. Idate is declared the winer but the head of the Wagarashi family says Idate had the ninja carry him and should be disqualified. He takes out a photo of Naruto carrying Idate. Gokaroh says the rule of the race is to run to the goal using your own strength. He disqualifies Idate and declares Fukusuke the winner, and orders the Wasabi family to disband. The Feudal Lord steps in and say there is no such rule. He wants to know why Gokaroh wants the Waharashi family to win. He takes out a photo showing him taking a bribe. The Feudal Lord orders him to retire from his position and become a monk. He then disbands the Wagarashi family for their misdeeds over the past few years.

A ship arrives to take the leaf genin back. Sasuke is injured. Ibiki arrives. Idate calls to him but Ibiki says his brother died three years ago and returns to the ship. Idate thinks he knows the answer to the tenth question now and he won't betray his friends again, he can trust in others. Ibiki thinks how Idate has a manly face. Later, Ibiki watches Naruto and thinks he's still an interesting guy and that the Fifth acknowledged him for a reason.

Meanwhile Sasuke is dwelling on Aoi's words, that he was the weakest of the Uchiha. He stares daggers at Naruto and his face glowers in fury.

Review:

Predictable story ending but good ending with Sasuke's fury to lead into the next arc.

Notes:

Wagarashi Kyuuroku - head of family with moustache and mole above left eye

Thoughts:

Why won't Ibiki acknowledge his little brother? Is it because he's still wanted for arrest in Konoha?

Are there extradiction treaties? Does Jirocho know Idate's full past?
