Terms:

Gale force technique = Leaf violent wind

Konoha Hurricane = Leaf spinning wind

Kekkai genkai = advanced bloodline

Kagebuyo = shadow of the dancing leaf = shadow leaf dance

Amagakure = those who-hide in the rain

Shinobi skill cards = nin info cards

Chunin = journeyman

Sunagakure = hide-in-sand

Scarecrow = Karasu (was just "Crow" in the previous volume, which is more accurate since Kakashi means scarecrow)

Gaara of the Sand.Desert Country vs Gaara of the Desert

Konoha = Leaf

Suna = Sand

Ame = Rain

Kusa = Grass

Taki = Waterfall

Oto = Sound

Kusanin = grass nin

Otonin = sound nin

Art of the Valentine (Astral projection) = Ino's mind transfer technique (valentine?! ugh!)

Note: "Maito Gai" stays same

Rock Lee is introduced as "one of the many student ninja from foreign villages who have traveled to Konohagakure for the Junior Nina Selection Exams" (but he's from Konoha!)

Ch 37: A Total Mismatch!!!

Sakura re Lee: caterpillar eyebrows vs thick eyebrows

Sasuke re Lee: dogbrow vs thick brows

Sasuke: "Is this martial arts.or magic? An illusion?" vs "Was that ninjutsu or genjutsu?"

Lee: "What I have I got through blood sweat and tears." vs "I am simply a hardworking type who has mastered only taijutsu."

Ch 38: On your Mark

Lee: "I wouldn't have used the reversal move." vs. "I wasn't planning on using the other one."

Gai: "I know Lee started this fight, but take pity on his old teacher, for the sake of my own self respect, forgive him (gotta save face.it's just so handsome!)" vs "Sorry about Lee, I swear to this face it won't happen again (I swear to this beautiful face)"

Lee: "And I don't think you're the strongest Konoha genin. The strongest junior ninja is a member of my own team.and I intend to take him down." vs "I lied before. Most likely the strongest leaf genin is on my team. I've entered this to defeat him."

Ch 39: The Challengers!!

Shikamaru: "Why don't you three save yourself the embarrassment of flunking this test? Go die, okay?" vs. You guys are taking this stupid test, too? Don't Die." (total different personality)

Naruto: "Well, if it isn't the three stooges!" vs. "Oh!! The idiot trio!!"

Naruto to Kiba: "Oh shut up!! You guys won't even beat me, much less Sasuke!" vs "Shut up!!! Sasuke might, but I won't lose to the likes of you!!!" (different connotation)

Naruto re Kiba and Akamaru: "A worse wildman than me! He makes me sick dragging that stupid mutt everywhere and trying to thrown his weight around!" vs "Louder than me!!! An annoying bastard who always acts like he's the boss."

Kabuto: "Would you guys do us all a favor and just shut up?" vs "Hey you guys, you should be more quiet." (Kabuto is very nice at first and probably wouldn't tell them to shut up!)

Kakashi to Gai: "What my kids lack in experience, they more than make up for in surprises, Gai. Your cell will eat their dust...hah, over one hurdle." vs "They may not be perfect.but they'll quickly blow by your guys.Well, just don't complain afterwards."

Ch 40: The First Test

Sakura re Naruto: "Pay no attention to my friend.he's.you know.a special-ed ninja." Vs "Everyone.it was just a joke. He's quite stupid and." (hah, I like the Viz line)

Zaku re Ibiki: So this is a test for little girly men." vs "Heh this exam is sounding easy."

Ibiki: ".we subtract two points from each member of the cheater's team" vs ".will have 2 points subtracted for every offense." (they only subtract points from the cheater, but if he reaches zero, then they all get a zero)

Includes Kishimoto Masashi's "I only show you these things so you'll understand how much I love manga" rejects corner.

Ch 41: The Whisper of Demons

Naruto: "Here I am again.facing the worst kind of enemy! Teachers didn't call me the all-time dunce for nothing! I earned that name on the field of battle!" vs I've survived through dangerous situations numerous times.I can't fail here." (different connotation again)

Ch 42: To Each His Own

Naruto: "Great. She believed me. Now I've got my honor.and I'm screwed.trying to be a big shot." Vs. "Damn.I'm an idiot. Now what am I going to do?"

Ino: "Have to memorize this quickly before someone catches me." vs "I have to memorize these quickly, 2-3 minutes is this jutsu's limit."

CH 43: The Tenth Question

Ibiki: "This rule is absolute." vs "These are the rules of desperation."

Re Ibiki: "Konoha Black Ops Torture and Interrogation Corps Unit Leader Jonin Commander

Leaf Assassination Squad" vs "Torture and Interrogation Captain. Special Jounin."

Sakura: "Heads you win. Tails you lose! No sane person could make such a choice!" Vs "Both options are bad! what a decision!"

Naruto: "I follow my unbending words.that's my ninja way." vs. "I never go back on my word. Cussedness is part of my shinobi skill set." (cussedness means stubborness)

Ch 44: The Talents We Test For

Ibiki: "Learn that and learn it well. If you bring back intelligence from a suspect source or a compromised operation.you're doing your enemies' work for them, putting those you serve in danger." vs "I want you to remember this. Important information in your hands.can be a powerful weapon for your comrades and for the village."

Ch 45: The Second Exam

Anko: "Don't just stand behind me.radiating bloodlust.unless you're in a hurry to die." vs "But you know.don't sneak up behind me.unless you want to die."

Anko: "It's a kind of fight-to-the-death version of 'capture the flag' or on this case, 'capture the scroll." Vs. "No rules scroll battle."
