Ch 8: You Failed!
Kakashi says that the memorial includes the name of my best friends (plural) vs singular. In Japanese the words best friend can mean either plural or singular.
Ch 9: The Worst Client
Cat is named Tiger instead of Tora. The anime translation and manga scanslation - the cat has a ribbon on its "left ear." The actual picture in the manga shows the ribbon on its right ear. The Viz manga says the cat has a "ribbon on its right ear that says 'Tiger'" so the Viz version is correct.
"Lady Shijimi - whose name means little clam - wife of the ruler of the Land of Fire shown here with tiger" = Fire Country lord's wife Madam Shijimi and Tora (Viz manga is really verbose!)
Lady Shijimi payment is over 100,000 units!
Sign over the cashiers say "Do a good job"
When Naruto protests, Kakashi thinks "be grateful for what you can get" instead of "I thought it was about time for this."
Example of Viz verbosity - after Tazuna says Naruto can't become hokage Naruto says: "Well, you're old and stupid! I am doing all the right things, and I'm doing them fast. And when I become hokage you're gonna wish you were a lot more respectful to me right now!!!" vs. "Shut up!!! I am prepared to do anything to become hokage!! Once I become hokage you will acknowledge me!!!"

Demon brother says "One Little Piggy" instead of "One Down" when they think they got Kakashi.
Ch 10: Target #2
When Naruto realizes Kakashi is okay, he thinks he used the "Art of Transformation" but Kakashi actually used Kawarimi which is the replacement technique.
Sasuke calls Naruo a "Big Chicken" rather than "Scaredy Cat"
Demon brother says "Obviously, they were watching and waiting for us" instead of asking "How did you read our movements?"
Tazuna asks Kakashi "Why did you let those creeps attack you?" rather than "why did you let the brats fight?"
Kakashi says ".it's clear this is more than a B rank mission.then it is beyond question that this would have been classified - and priced - as a mission for elite ninja" vs. "...at least a B rank mission.this mission would have been set as the more expensive B rank." At this point the mission is B rank, not A rank, for chuunin not jounin.

Ch 11: Going Ashore
Nami no Kuni = Land of the Waves
"This Mist'll keep us hidden. But from this point on, we have to turn off our engines and row." vs. "Why do you think we are hiding in the mist and not using the engine?" Different implication of having used the engine or not at all..
Instead of just "sensei" or "master" Tazuna addresses Kakashi as "Mr. Sensei Sir" - totally redundant.
Kakashi says "The Gato? They say he's the richest man in the world." vs. "He's said to be of the world's few extremely wealthy people." So he goes from one of the richest to the richest.
Tazuna says "An elite B-ranked bodyguard would be a lot more than I could afford." Viz translation continues to confuse B rank missions with jounin level, B ranks are for chuunins!
Boat guy takes the boat under the cover of "'mangroves' which are tropical evergreens that grow along the shorelines and riverbanks and look like floating forests when the tide is high." (only called vegetation in scanlation, so this detail is good)
Kakashi says "Please.please don't play around with your shuriken. They can be just a teensy bit dangerous." vs. "seriously dangerous"
The rabbit is referred to as a "decoy" rather than for "body switching."
Zabuza thinks "From what I see, this group is not equal in skill to the Demon Brothers. Yet, their leader is a shinobi of Konohagakure Village - and not just any shinobi! It's Kakashi the mirror ninja - Kakashi of the sharingan eye!" vs. "I see. no wonder the demon brothers didn't stand a chance.The Hidden Leaf's Copy ninja.the sharingan Kakashi."
Kakashi calls Zabuza "the kid who ran off and left the Land of the Mists" rather than a missing-nin.
Ch 12: Game Over !!!
Kakashi says "assume the Manji battle formation! Protect Mr. Tazuna." What is the Manji battle formation?
Sasuke says "shinobi who have the sharingan eye.have mastered a form of ocular ninjutsu. It enables them to penetrate and see the reality behind any illusion or spell and to reflect the power of the magics they penetrate back on those who cast them!" vs. "Sharingan..it is said that some have the ability in their eyes to read and defeat all types of gen, tai, and nin-jutsu. The sharingan is one of the types of pupil that gives you this power." Latter makes more sense!
Ch 13: Ninja!
Iruka and Mizuki (Kishimoto's notes) - Viz seems to have messed up the translation: "When I was originally planning who Iruka and Mizuki's teacher was going to be, I decided on the next teacher's name at the same time." Vs. "When I was developing these characters I was also coming up with names for the next sensei."
Ch 14: The Secret Plan!!!
Zabuza says "Students who'd been friends, eating from the same dish, as undergrads were divided into pairs who were forced to fight against each other.to the death." Vs. "Friends who have trained and eaten at the same table are pitted against each other and go at it.until one of them loses his life." (Not necessarily in pairs.)
".butchered over a hundred members of that year's graduating class" vs. "over a 100 of the students" (maybe not all of them were graduating)
Ch 15: Return of the Sharingan
My scanlations has a few nice color pages for ch 15 but only black and white in Viz.
"I'm the genuine article. No mere copycat stands a chance against me.You mimic me like a parrot! I'll close your beak for good." vs. "You can't beat me you monkey bastard.Damn you!! I'll make it so you can never open that mouth again!!"
Make-out Paradise (author's notes) ".But I will say that if Kakashi gets his wish, Make-Out Paradise Vol I may yet be published in English" vs. "But Kakashi just bought the first book of Come Come Violence."
Ch 16: Who Are You?!
Tazuna "You poor kids. You must be so humiliated!! But never mind. You can lick your wounds at my house." Vs. "Super thanks guys!! Come over to my house and relax for a while!!
Tsunami age is 28 in Viz manga but 29 in character data book and scanlations.
