Fight with Gaara is shorter, no attempts at attack by Sasuke before his chidori. No Gaara flashbacks to childhood here.

Sasuke thoughts regarding his brother Itachi "He let me live so that he doesn't have to feel guilty about killing the entire clan. My brother Itachi chose me to be the avenger. The sole reason for my existence is to hunt him, to destroy him.

Gaara's sand tries to grab a boy, not a girl when Yashamaru intercedes, but later he does bring ointment to the girl.

Gaara tries to slit his wrist, not stab the back of his hand.

Yashamaru says "As a member of your medical team at Kazekage's command, my duty is to protest you from any harm." (maybe difference in translation caretaker vs medical team)

Ends with Gaara asking Yashamaru what is pain.

Ch 130: Love...!! (ep 76)

Yashamaru tells Gaara "you're my precious one..."

Gaara does not stick Yashamaru's finger in his mouth

There's no focus on the assassin's injured finger until after Gaara takes off his mask. Anime makes more sense/tension by focusing on the finger first.

Ends with Gaara screaming in pain.

Ch 131: A Name Called Gaara.! (ep 77)

Gaara throws up when Yashamaru tells him that his father ordered his assassination.

Translation difference: Yashamaru says he "resented" Gaara rather than "hate" which is probably more accurate.

Ends with Naruto summering a little frog

CH 132: Two Boys Darkness and Light (ep 77)

Tanuki neiri no jutsu was translated in anime as forced sleep, but Tanuki is a raccoon type animal.

Naruto thinks "since I learned the nine tails exist within me, the villagers seem to look at me with eyes colder than ever."

Gaara does not transform to a stage with multiple mouths all over his body.

Ends with Naruto getting beat up and thinking he won't lose even if he dies.

CH 133: Strong Guys (ep 78)

Pakkum notes that Sasuke shields Naruto even though his own body is like that.

Ends with Naruto doing full power Kage Bunshin - about a 1000 clones appear - start of the Naruto ninja scrolls.

Gamabunta thinks "why should I have to do anything for the sake of this guy. a big pain in the butt."

Ch 135: Storm Fight (ep 78)

When Gamabunta asks Naruto to transform him he says "I'm no good at transforming so you be my will and do the 'in' for me. I'll lend you my chakra. It will be a combo henge." ("in" may mean seal)

No scenes with Kakashi and Gai keeping score.

Fight scene between Gamabunta-fox vs Shukaku is shorter and doesn't have the fox uprooting trees with its tail.

Ends with Naruto punching Gaara awake.
